Jacob Williams, better known as Spectruum, is an American DJ and music producer from Knoxville, Tennessee. Combining heavy, low frequency rhythms with experimental midrange tones, Spectruum creates his own unique blend of energetic and immersive bass music. Outside of the studio, Spectruum keeps dance floors moving with his seamless mixes and high-energy live performances. He has showcased his skills alongside acts such as Slander, Cherub, Ivy Lab, smith., TVBOO, Shanghai Doom, Sara Benyo, DMVU, Toadface, Freddy Todd, Dorfex Bos, and jPhelpz.
The son of one of the most requested country/southern rock duos in East Tennessee, Jacob was raised by musicians and began playing drums at the age of three. Growing up on a musical foundation of rock & roll, metal, punk rock, and hip hop, it wasn't until 2010 that he was exposed to his one true love: electronic dance music. Instinctively drawn to an electronic music festival years later, Spectruum witnessed live performances by Zeds Dead, Skrillex, and Pretty Lights and knew definitively that he wanted to dedicate his life to producing EDM. Relentlessly seeking information from his peers and the internet alike, Jacob immersed himself in learning and quickly developed an advanced skillset in both music production and live mixing. In 2014, Substance (his original stage name) was born. Substance became the basic foundation that rapidly grew until a metamorphosis was inevitable. In 2017, Substance transformed into Spectruum and a whole new era of sound design began.
Since then, Spectruum has been striving to create his own distinctive sound, and now he feels like he is finally creating the music he has always wanted to make. In 2024, Spectruum aims to release as much new music as possible. He remains focused on producing in the studio to create the most sonically pleasing (and body-moving) music possible for his fans.
